However we, Steph, Michelle, Liz, Susie, and Debbie, all did it in wonderful time and had such a great morning together! The weather couldn't have been any more accommodating too! It was cool enough to not be so hot while we got our sweat on.
I did the run in 50.17 minutes! A 10.32 min mile! I was so proud of myself, because I was certain that I was going to do an 11 minute mile! The first two miles are so hard for me, my brain is telling me to quit, but I have learned I have to push through it and then it's like I become numb and I can literally run forever as long as I have sips of water. I even used Gu for the first time. Not bad, not bad! It wasn't great in texture, I have a horrible gag reflex, but it tasted yummy, strawberry banana. I ran the entire time and even controlled a stitch. It was a graded run too, through Kiwanas Park in Tempe. A lot of concrete running though, so I tried to run the grass as much as possible or pavement if we came up to it. My shins are a bit sore, but I have been icing them. I'm off of legs this week for strength training and running, but I can do bike and elliptical.
Seriously I LOVE running! I can't wait for the next race! It is such an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and again only I am in my way! It was just as rewarding, if not more considering I had the flu this week and was sure it wasn't going to be a good one, as the my first 5k race in October. I am still sooo hooked! Next month we are doing 10 miles, the Iron Girl! It looks like it will be a beautiful run along Tempe Towne Lake. Can't wait!
